NexTier Bank to celebrate Community Banking Week with activities at branches to benefit local businesses, food pantries
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - April 12,2006: NexTier Bank branches will host numerous events that will impact their surrounding communities during Community Banking Week, April 16 – 20, 2007.
NexTier will demonstrate ways in which its branches are a vital contributor to the community during its celebration of the 2007 theme, "Community Banking... The People, the Pride, the Service." In particular, many NexTier branches will focus on business customers with a “Celebrating Businesses in Our Community” Day. Each branch is also collecting nonperishable food items throughout the week to contribute to a local food bank.
In 2006, NexTier Bank won the Community Banking Week “Best of the Best” award by the Pennsylvania Association of Community Bankers ( PACB) ($400 million and above asset category). S. J. ”Buzz” Irvine, former NexTier president and current chairman of NexTier’s Board of Directors, accepted the award last year at the PACB annual meeting in San Diego. Community Banking Week is sponsored by the PACB, a statewide organization with more than 180 community banking institutions as members.
