How do you distinguish yourself in the business of family business?
Just ask those who have worked with Rich Snebold, who helps family businesses with great fervor.
“Rich rejoices with families, laughs with them and cries with them,” said Mark GaNung, SVP, NexTier Wealth Management. “Helping family businesses is a passion for Rich. He has devoted his career to them and family businesses in western Pennsylvania are better for it.”
Snebold was recently named “Family Business Advisor of the Year” by the Family Business Roundtable of Pittsburgh. He received this award at the organization’s May 17 Family Business Awards Night, which recognizes the success of family business owners and their advisors in western PA each year. The award was presented by last year’s recipient, Robert Williams.
Snebold’s dream of creating a “ Resource Center” for family-owned businesses came to fruition in 2002, when he co-founded The Family Business Center with NexTier Bank. Earlier this year, Snebold earned a Certification in Family Business Advising from the Family Firm Institute, making him one of only three people in Pennsylvania to earn this distinction. He had spent more than 30 years as a managing partner in the financial services industry, counseling many owners of family enterprises.
Snebold is a Pine Township resident.

The Family Business Roundtable began as the Pittsburgh FFI (Family Firm Institute) in 1992. At that time its purpose was that of the FFI, to serve Family Business Advisors. In the late 1990’s the Pittsburgh chapter of the FFI transitioned to become the Family Business Roundtable of Pittsburgh. The mission of this “new” organization was to serve family businesses as well as family business advisors, by providing a unique resource that could connect the two.
