NexTier Bank marks centennial anniversary as national bank
October 5, 2007 – NexTier Bank, National Association, recently marked a historic milestone: its 100th anniversary as a national bank.
“In this day of bank acquisitions and mergers occurring on a regular basis, NexTier is truly proud to receive this designation. It signifies not only our longevity, but our commitment to supporting our communities and providing excellent financial services and expertise,” said Margaret Irvine Weir, President.
On hand to receive a certificate in recognition of this distinction were S.J. “Buzz” Irvine III, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Don Shamey, CEO and Ms Weir. It was presented by James Calhoun, who represented the office of the Comptroller of the Currency, the regulating authority of national banks.
The certificate “recognized the bank’s 100 years of distinguished service and contributions to the community.”NexTier wasfounded under a state charter in 1876 and became nationally chartered in 1907.
