$200,000 in EITC funds is distributed
NexTier supports 10 nonprofit organizations that serve children
November 14, 2007 – NexTier continued its commitment to children’s causes and education recently by applying for Education Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) credits and receiving approval to distribute $200,000 in EITC funds. This Department of Community and Economic Development program provides a way for state government to help non-profit organizations receive much-needed funds.
Not only did NexTier choose 10 organizations to receive the funds, but it will take its community commitment to the next level by collaborating with several groups to implement programs in communities served by its branch network. Recipients were:
- Economics PA / $60,000 / Financial literacy
- Junior Achievement / $20,000 / Career development
- National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship / $40,000
- Pittsburgh Musical Theatre / $5,000 / Student programs (two Butler County students are starring in Annie!)
- Smart Futures / $40,000 / Career guidance, new program funding for schools in NexTier branch markets
- Western PA Conservancy (Fallingwater) / $10,000 / Conservancy education and student tours
- Pittsburgh Public Theatre / $5,000 / tickets for students
- Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra / $5,000 / matinee performances for students
- Wesley Spectrum Services / $5,000 / Special needs children including program for children residing in Gibsonia
- Family Resources of PA / $10,000 / Preventing child abuse by strengthening families (operates a family retreat center in Cranberry Township)
