What You’ll Need to Open a Free Business Checking Account

While similar to a Personal Checking Account, a Business Checking Account requires more documentation in order to open. While NexTier Bank offers several different types of Business Checking Accounts, our Free Business Checking Account is a great fit for almost any type of business.

Personal Information

To open any business account at NexTier Bank, you will need to give some personal information:

  • Identification: You’ll need a government-issued photo ID, such as a driver’s license.
  • Contact Information: Full name, mailing address, phone number, and email address.
Business Details

Each business is different in the way it is classified. However, every business will need:

  • Business Name
  • Business entity type: You’ll have to specify if it’s a sole proprietorship, partnership, corporation, or LLC. Required documentation includes:
    • Corporation: Articles of Incorporation, IRS EIN Award Letter, C Corp or S Corp, and Business Purpose
    • Limited Liability: Certification of Organization, IRS EIN Award Letter, Operating Agreement, C Corp or S Corp, and Business Purpose
    • Partnership: IRS EIN Award Letter, Partnership Agreement, and Business Purpose
    • Sole Proprietorship: IRS EIN Award Letter, Fictitious Name Registration, and Business Purpose

A Free Business Checking Account requires $50 to open and has no minimum balance requirement. In addition, there is no monthly service charge.
